Yeah that's what bothers me too. I took a look at some job postings today and found all kinds of temporary jobs related to food/groceries/medical supplies, but they all seemed to have an urgency to get seats filled within the next week or two. I'm worried those jobs will all be filled by the time our business slows down to the point where I'm not running much.

One of our guys went in and talked to the TM this morning to try and get some answers, but all he got was the usual "we're essential and we can do plenty of work for other essential businesses" and "we're taking it day-by-day."

i'd say i could not make about 10%-20% of my deliveries today----because there was no-one to accept them.

i might be headed for a repo---just my luck too. (NOTE: i have NEVER had a car repo'd)

i'm not sure what i'll do. But what i AM sure is that i'm not going to crawl back to mom and dad to bail me out.....

So anyways, a bookstore and a non-profit office type place (2 pallets of folders), and a corpo-type office place(one pallet of pens) were closed.

A sheet metal place (which says they are staying open no matter what), a college theatre, a non-profit gardening/rehab outfit, another college bus service, 3 hospitals, a paint store and of course residentials all open.

i did mention that we lost our show freight (conventions) account because THEY are shutdown. This amounts to 1-2hrs per week on average for me.

i always like to be conservative rather than too optimistic when it comes to money, so i would like to consider myself HOSED at the moment.

Haven’t done that in Indiana yet, but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time. I’m in the straight so I do a lot of nursing homes and such, which will still need deliveries through all this, but I assume if it comes to it they’ll put the higher seniority guys in the straights to do it. Only got one guy below me so I’m a bit nervous to be on the chopping block.

They were really looking like they were going to start moving people through the program, too. One guy supposed to be in semi ASAP, then a few dock guys for the straights then me in a semi. Hopefully I’m still employed at the end of it all.

Last night when we asked about this at our pre-shift meeting they told us almost all of our customers are considered essential or are finding creative ways to declare themselves essential. I was thinking narrowly about food and medical supplies before but there is also a lot of freight that supports critical infrastructure like wire, municipal water and gas related freight, pumps, etc.

We might slow down, but a lot of the drivers on our line haul board are already discussing how we can share the burden instead of screwing the bottom guys only.

Just a heads up, a repossession is a credit wrecker. Avoid that if you can.

Massive wrecker. With everything going on, it would be good to get with the lender and talk to them. Lots of banks and lenders are going to be forced to deal with this stuff, and with the economy coming to a standstill, the bank still isn't going to make any money taking the car back and sending it to auction.
