Lots of stuff being thrown around what is offered and not offered by the government in the stimulus package. This is unprecedented to anything this country has ever seen or will see you again. Government is giving away an unbelievable amount of money.

So if we get sick from this virus, are we eligible for unemployment? How long does unemployment run now? How much do we get paid? After the virus runs it’s course and we get better do we have to return to work right away? These are things we need to know. Because over the coming weeks a hell of a lot of us truckers are going to catch this nasty crap.

Well they’re talking about grants for owner operators and business owners. I’m talking about the every day company driver. What are we eligible for? If we quit, if we get laid off, if we get sick, we need to know these things.

In ordinary times If you quit you may have trouble collecting unemployment. And if you were too sick to work, no unemployment. If you got laid off and sometime even if you get fired you could collect. As long as you had worked enough in the preceding quarter(s) to qualify. But these are not ordinary times so we will soon see who will get paid what. I don't have the patience to try to read through that stimulus bill.

I’m 43 years old, been working since the age of 14. Guess how many sick days I’ve taken? ZERO! But this bugger is different. It takes many people out. I’ve always worked sick. With the flu, strep throat, countless cold, even broken bones over the years. If I can get up and crawl and get it done that’s what I do. But if I catch this nasty crap, I will be sitting it out. I don’t wanna be the cause or someone losing their grandmother.

This is an invisible monster that wants to kill your grandmother. That’s basically what this virus is.

Ask your company if they have a corona contingency plan.
My company will pay 2 weeks full pay (at 40 hr rate) and all benefits if you have to quarantine due to yourself or a family member suspected of infection, positive test or not

Government will do whatever they do. Do not count on them, you need to make your own plan for getting through this should things go bad for you and your family.

The health strategy for a lot of truckers is not to get sick. If you do get sick it might cost you lots of money you don't have to get treated for this virus that is putting the country on its ### for an extended time frame.

If you are worried, really worried do this:
    1. Get to your home terminal
    2. Park the truck and clean out your stuff.
    3. Go home to where your preps are and wait it out for a few months, possibly more.

Sounds drastic, but that is what is going to happen anyway for most of the population, total lockdown. It's as though the supposed cure is worse than the virus. Kind of like melons dying on the vine because they weren't picked or watered on time.

For 42 cents a mile and all the b.s. it's something to think about.

You have the freedom to go read the bill or read the web sites that have already read the bill. You may be a great truck driver. That doesn't mean you are only allowed to ask other truck drivers every question you have about any topic.
