2015 IHC 4300 DT466 Got Wet

    Own a 2015 IHC 4300 DT466 2500 gal Water Truck (15543 miles) that took a dive when the pond bank broke loose. The entire truck was submerged, pulled out the next day and sat untouched for 3 months.

    After getting the truck back and into the garage, it was obvious there would be a few electrical issues. Replaced batteries and nothing lit up on the dash. Replaced dash module, ECM (left kick panel) starter/solenoid and cleaned up B+ terminals and grounds.

    With replacement, dash lights up, and all lights work. It will not turn over. Because of the heavy corrosion on items replaced, are there any other parts I should replace before starting to troubleshoot.

    A couple of valves are open at all times so expect at least two cylinders to be full of water. Even if you remove the injectors do not expect it to turn over after 3 months.

    Bar the engine over by hand to see if it even turns. Any truck submerged in water, Navistar recommends complete replacement of all electronic modules, including engine ecm, body controller, cluster,abs module, and so one. Also, all connectors need to be disconnected, and inspected for water intrusion and corrosion. I fear having the truck sit for three months and allowing the corrosion and rust to do its thing is a death sentence here.

    I'm with the above folks as well. Unless you got to it straight away chances are that engine is rusted up internally. Honestly probably best to cut your losses, salvage the tank and scrap the rest. Chances are the diff and transmission are full of water too.

    If it was running when it went under, almost guaranteed to have hydraulic locked and bent some rods.
