I have a 14 cascadia with a DD15. I idled on and off over this weekend and then I get on the fuel, it stumbles puts out white smoke and then clears up. It doesn't burn oil. Also under a load it sometimes stumbles from idle to about 950 rpm, same thing white smoke clears up and runs. Truck has dpf off of it but egr is still intact.

    No oil in radiator tank.

Oil with 3000 miles on it

I have the same problem but mine only does it when the temp is below freezing. If the temp is above it will run ok although I did notice a drop in mpg.Still trying to figure it out dont wanna throw parts at it. Some have suggested the egr valve might be getting stuck. Since the weather is warming up it hasn't acted up. Did you get any codes?

I did and changed out the delta P sensor. A friend of my new has a 600 dollar scanner cleared them all. Part of me wants to buy a scanner and see if a boot leg copy of dddl software will allow me to look at the engine. Another person suggested an injector firing rich.

I’m having the same problem, on my 2000 12.7. Seems to be worse when tanks are low, and fuel filters are old. Still takes a while to go away, after changing filters.Im pretty sure it’s caused by s leak between tanks and fuel pump. It’s sucking air, showing bubbles in fuel tanks, from return fuel with air still in it. Probably my shut off valves on top of tanks. Common source of leaks. It won’t show up unless tanks are pressurized and forces fuel to bleed out. Only sucks air in. Just a thought. Sputters, misses, lots of white smoke, then clears up after its wound up and pumping good again.

Check lines and filter base for a hairline crack, Ideally put air pressure into fuel tank, even a air hose, with a rag will work, to get the fuel to bleed out at the source of the leak.

Yeah the higher my davco the worse it has been. I sometimes see air bubbles in the davco filter. So it might not be the filter but lines coming into it. I didn't think of that, I assumed the filter.

When I used to Idle my DPF KW all nite, it would put out alot of white/gray smoke in the morning for about 3 minutes while getting on the Interstate hammer down. Was coming from the Dpf filter.

    Rideandrepair and 77fib77 Thank this.

If "dpf off" means what I think it does, "egr still intact" should have been off at the same time. Almost impossible to have a proper "tune" without both being "off"

If yours does that in the cold its likely the def heater tube is freezing. Daimler knows about the problem and has updated part
