That's really the only leg you have to stand on? Its similar to the flu and it started in Wuhan.

I think joking it has been called The Boomer Remover and the Kung Flu, too. But neither was meant as racist, just humor. Unless being old is some how racist.

Years ago there was the Legionnaires disease. Think out east( Philadelphia) at a meeting of some kind.Still called that . No big deal don't think folks got butt hurt over it. That was years ago though..now days to many snowflakes.

Because it is where it orginated..by what is known. Like i mentioned in my other post. Look up Legionnaires. Disease. Nothing to do with race. Who brought race into the discussion? Could end up being the USA disease or Canadian virus next time. Take a deep breath, put on some soft music and chill.

Yes, it used to be standard to use geographical identifiers. That changed after the "swine flu" - also known as h1n1.

    Why the change?

Maybe it had something to do with Eygpt killing it's entire population of domesticated pigs in an attempt to avoid "swine flu".

Maybe the scientific community decided they needed to be more clear and avoid misinterpretation in translations?

Maybe the scientific community wanted to avoid misunderstandings - "you can only catch Wuhan Virus in Wuhan".

Maybe the scientific community noticed that there was a strong correlation between using place names in disease nomenclature and racist behavior?

Or maybe it is all of these.
