We can go around and around on this. But still in the end be right back where we started. It appears that this virus was first seen in China. I don't know what the offical name will be. It will still be refered as the Wuhan flu. Just like the H1N1 is still called the swine flu. When someone acts out of a panic or ignorance and does something because of this that makes it sad. It still does not make it racist. As I have said now 2 times in replies. I call it the Covid 19. My primary concern now is to not catch it.

2015 article. But as my 2017 article says. Viruses are STILL named for many different reasons. Some from locale, some from their discoverer, and some from their curer. Thus while WHO might have made a recomendation. Viruses still get named whatever people want.

It's not racist. But there are still small people who may make it or take it as racist. It doesn't come from Corona beer. But there were still idiots thinking that. So if you don't like Wuhan Flu. Don't use it. But be open minded and tollerant of people who choose to be different from you. Unless left leaning persons lie when they say that.

Just going thru the rational of why the change after h1n1. Before 2012 it was standard, now it is not. And there are more reasons than "its racist" for the change in standards.

Your article details the HISTORICAL reasons for certain disease nomenclature.

Mine is from the WHO detailing a new best practice.

Saying I put gas in my truck is wrong, and if someone tells me to gas up, I will probably correct them. This isn't to-ma-to to-mah-to. It has a name given and accepted by the scientific community.

The Chinese did this and they should be held responsible. They should pay for all of this.

The fact that it’s even being debated shows how easily people’s attentions and focus can be diverted. Who cares what the hell they call it? Does it really matter? Don’t buy into BS. Focus on important issues. Just because someone says it, doesn’t mean you have to bite. Respirators, normally cost $25000, now they’re $50000. That’s something to question.

True. Why are almost all the respirators made overseas? Surgical gloves? Probably many other medical items ( masks)? Now they are ramping up production here in the good old USA, should've been here all along. Well they, and others say..its less expensive to buy overseas. Now the ? is..at what expense? If you are a country where they make a much needed item, and all of a sudden you need said number of items. Guess who gets the items first? The others pick a number and wait in line.

Exactly, I heard a story of Respirators bound from France to Switzerland, confiscated enroute by Germany, for their own use. Ford just started making them, GM starting production ASAP.

Since I don't trust information coming out of China I will preface this comment.

I have heard China has allowed those wet markets to reopen. I see a big time issue between culture and health going on. This is akin to telling a southern Baptist they can't eat Chicken on Sundays. Gosh I sure hope this stuff gets fixed.

Gentleman, can we please just go back to using micro-aggressions and dog whistles? The extreme level of blatant sexism, Islamophobia, xenophobia, homophobia, racism, and bigotry on this forum is an existential threat to our democracy and planet.

I have read where Australia had a large number of medical supplies taken back to China. Lots of weird stuff being reported now.
