I’ve pulled 44500 across 80 in 60mph gusts and it was pretty scary at times. Company wants me to take an empty from Washington state to Denver area. Monday is calling for potential 40-50mph gusts. Sounds like suicide/homicide and a ticket of some sort to boot. Thoughts?

WY will put warning signs for light vehicles. You will have to sit and wait it out if that happens

I figure that first port of entry where they make everyone go inside will just say “park it you idiot”.

Check the weather in Colorado. I-84/I-15/US-6/I-70 could be the smarter choice if you don't want to sit a week in Wyoming.

Just ask at the port of entry , tell em your empty ,they always know the road conditions. If its bad you may have to wait a few hours. Just budget time for it.

If you are empty , this only adds about 40 min if i remember right. Really pretty drive.

That was my original thought. They’ll hate the extra miles. Dispatchers should have to do 2 weeks OTR training with a driver and experience weather, crappy appointments, and finding parking after 1800.

Don't you have thoughts of your own on this subject?

I have seen many blown over trucks along that highway. Maybe they took the wrong advice from other people.

They will hate a blown over truck a lot more than a few extra miles or minutes, I would bet.

I just checked the weather. Based on what I saw I would be taking I-70. The weather looks like it's going to be nice in Utah and Colorado. And as The Crossword Trucker pointed out you're empty and it only add an extra 40 miles.
