this is the company my friend works for: http ://starcoachusa.com/
just so u can see exactly what im talking about.;..and no he did NOT have to take a bus test,,,he did not Take his test in a bus...he took it in a 28 passenger "day coach"...which is basiclly seen in this page: http ://starcoachusa.com/proms.htm
....a party bus...but he found another company in his area to lend him the bus for the test...but remember he did NOT take the bus test...does not have bus endorsement either....CDL B wiht passenger endorsement...and he's making excellent money...he's scheduled to leave out in like a week with ICP (Insane Clown Posse) for 3 months and be their driver for the new tour they r about to start!
lavishing it up in nice hotels all the time...back stage to all shows and concerts, etc...u name it man...
now they're are 2 different main styles of coaches that they use, one is the "day coach party bus" thats used for proms and daily outings wiht multiple drunks...lmao...he usually just picks up a bunch of drunks and drops them off at a resturant in downtown Atl. and then picks them back up and takes them to bars and clubs...he does that when he's doing local gigs...and sometimes he takes one of the RV style coaches (which i dont need a cdl for) for the days on the road...for the traveling gigs...concerts and such....but in order for me to get the job there i have to be qualified to drive both types of coaches...:biggrin_25520:

Contact Greyhound Lines and see if they are hiring-they train and they take you through the steps to endorsement.

There are companies around me that have tour buses for bands. You gotta have a "Twang" endorsement. :biggrin_2559:
I was reading about one job that was hauling equipment. All no touch freight!

Yep, know the company actually. Had a friend that worked for a simlar company out of Nashville, hauling Country singers around. Said he made great money. It's a good gig, so I can't blame you for wanting to get it. I looked at your profile, seems you already have a CDL-A, which means you have the "Air" and the combination, and can obviously handle a larger vehicle. So really (as you have already said) all you need is that (P) Passenger endorsement. And yes, the (P) is also the same on a CDL-B. It's the same for both classes of vehicles. Yours just means that you can haul a combination (Tractor and Tailer) and he can't. But for what were talking about here, it is irrelevant.

Your right, your gona have to find someone who will "Loan" you a vehicle, to get your passenger endorsement. Or rent one for a day (expensive). I feel your frustration, I have been wanting to get back into Long Haul with my own authority, but with the loads the way they are right now, I just can't justify putting a truck on the road. Keep looking, keep your feelers out, there is a lot of driver turnover that is going to happen when the market come back. And my friends are telling me that at lot of these "over night wonders" who got their CDL's because they lost their job at Wallmart, don't last more than a month. I found that persistence helps. Stay in touch with prospective companies, so that if they lose someone, they have your name right up top!. I even had a friend who had small business cards printed up, with his pic, and CDL qualifications, and he would pass them out, or mail them to companies with a cover letter, resume, saying what type of job he was interested in. He got a good job offer from that, the guy kept it in his desk drawer, and when a driver quit, he called my friend and "Boom" he had a good job!

Contact your local driver's license department. They will likely have a list of folks, or companies that will do "third party testing." What this means is that they will take you out in one of their rigs, then certify that you have passed the road test. Be prepared to pay for this, of course. The last I heard it was a standard rate of $100.00. But that was several years ago, and in southern Utah. It is probably more than that today.

    Good luck!

this i will check into...the option has never been brought to my attention b4...i mean my friend paid like $400 the first time he tried for the skills/road test...that biotch failed him cause SHE was not paying attention and she was sitting there txt msging her #### boyfriend or someone...lmao...that biotch!...he complained to DMV but they wouldn't do anything about it...they just made him retest another day...
he came back a couple days later and requested a different tester and he passed fine...the charter company he rented the bus from (57 passenger bus style) charged him like another $300something the 2nd time around that he had to borrow it for the test...but it has seriously paid off 10-fold by now...and he's only been there for 4 months and change...he loves his job and i get so jeoulous every single day...he;s my best friend, like a brother to me.,..he gets comps...free meals, stays in nice hotels for free...free vip accesss to backstage and the concerts he does...all kinds a cool #####...:biggrin_2551:
