You also didn't have a massive amount of the population on social media swirling bovine excrement "news" and the like. Social Media is the biggest problem I see in this debacle.

    i consider it already imploded.

Now, are we (upsf) so far behind in transit, and that's the reason why we're still delivering? (more plausible theory) Or are our sales people doing a great job? (less plausible theory)

i saw one ad pyle and it was the same driver and one FEDex frt and it was a straight truck. Other than that it's just dumptrucks other UPSF trucks (and regular ups trucks of course) and a FEW truckload carriers but the not the big names. It's like the road warrior movie out there with me wearing the mask etc.

Mike, i would also consider delivering pizzas in-between yard hauls because, as i mentioned above, i think it is pumping.

LESSONS LEARNED (too late as usual.....):
    1) Dave Ramsey was right all along, but that's a topic for another thread.......

If you can't afford to pay cash for a car, you can't afford it.

    2) FOOD, specifically grocery and those who deliver to largely and/or primarily carry out type places, IS the safest way to go in trucking. It is not the best gig in trucking in the short term, but in the long term it IS.

    3) The prepper types were right all along too.
Preparation is the key to everything.

    4) relates to #3 above.
i told McUzi that risk-management was everything in life. And here, i didn't follow that myself.

There is a difference between surviving, hanging on by a thread, and hanging on by a thread and going down.

Speaking specifically for myself and Upsf, we are miraculously hanging on, but going down.....

Doordash and grubhub might be a good way to make some extra cash.

Where in your run that day was that wine rack?

If it were last I might’ve felt as you did. But if it were first I’d personally be more indignant about the idea of tripping over it all day long.

I cannot for the life of me figure out what everyone is freaking out about. They changed the unemployment insurance to eliminate the waiting week and allow you to draw up to 100% of your gross up to 1100$. Plus their sending out an additional 1200$. If you can't get by in that, you have bigger problems than worrying about this non event Wuhan Flu. There may be some tax implications for you when file 2020 returns due to the unemployment insurance, but they would be relatively minor. We've seen this before, situation arises (Oil Embargo, Iranian Hostages, Iran/Iraq war, Peak Oil, Y2K, Desert Shield/Storm, First WTC attack, Oklahoma City bombing, DC sniper, Anthrax scare, 9/11, etc, etc) vast majority loose their minds, figure out after a bit it's not the Apocolypse, and stuff goes back to normal. As a reference point, try reading "Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds". Published 1841. Nothing new under the sun. The thing that makes this one stand out is the 24/7 hysteria whipped up by the fake news industry and social media and the sheeple like reactions of populations to draconian government mandates

$1100 might be fine to some, but when your gross per week is $2-2500, that $1100 is like chump change.

I do over 2. But I’d be all
for $1100 to sit home a couple months.

If your gross per week is 2-2500 and you haven't managed to put away a rainy day fund or set yourself up to live on somewhat less you are a victim only of your own foolishness.

When someone has to make the choice between zero and $1,100, the $1,100 wins every time. I really doubt anyone who is currently laid off will be able to walk right in to $2-$2,500 a week. Maybe a few exceptions, but not the rule.

It was about halfway into my route. I get off of work so late that most grocery stores look like the apocalypse. Fortunately I can still find beer. But my point is, I can't find essential items and people still have the luxury of buying stupid crap off of the internet.
