Exactly, I can't put my finger on exactly why.?

If I knew my truck would do 80-85, I'd have no problem cruising at 62.. When it only will do 72, it like I got something to prove..

Ohhhh dang, I just realized, this must be tiny wang syndrome I've always heard about.. When it's tiny you act like a dick because all you can do is act.. When it's a dog you push it to seem like its fast..?

So with that double over setup do you split all 4 top gears, or only 8 to 8hi for the deep overdrive..?

 

You can but it's almost pointless once you move the stick then flip the button. Don't split em like the newer RTLO. Say you want to go from 7H to 8L you move the stick 1st then hit the button. Try doing it like how you would on a newer it goes BANG.

The guy that built ours said if we ran it like a newer one we'd be back in a year tearing it apart. Someone else can explain better than me

 

Wont solve your issue. Both have a .73 top gear. You really need to regear the diff. Now change diff and add a rtlo 13 speed would ideal. Your not gonna go much faster without changing ring and pinion.

Sounds like FL. We've 2 seasons. Fall and Summer. Sometimes they come every other day. Like Wednesday it was in the 90s, Thursday it was in the 60s, today gonna be back in the 80s. SMH

I thought what @Brettj3876 was referring to was a deeper than .73 od. I thought the RTX built into a 13 ended up with the .73od for 8lo & a .62 for 8hi..

I can easily be mistaken, wouldn't be the 1st time..

 

You dont have the torque in a 11.1 detroit to run a .62 overdrive.

Dollar for dollar go see those folks I gave you a number to first. It will be your cheapest improvement.

Tire change will net 4 mph top speed
Rpm change will net 7 mph top speed.

With added HP,TQ,and Rpm you might be happy.

If you gear it wrong, you might never make enough power to turn a wheel and just wasted alot of money.
