So do I. It hung around that level until a day in 1999 when one morning on my way to work I noticed it jumped 50-60 cents overnight.

Wasn't. Worked after school at the ripe old age of 13.

    Rebuilt my first 440 too.

In high school I could drive all week on $5 of gas, that was in the 70s.

A/c will run. But the heater won't shut off.

Duh Dave I read it and thought you were talking about driving. Not just the gas prices. My brain fart.

All this cheap gas, time off, and people can’t even take a vacation. Load board for Chicago is pathetic. I get home after this adventure. Might as well stay there.

We had an old VW dune buggy. My brother said if I could get it running, I could have it.

Put new plugs and ignition parts, wires, cleaned out the carb, and it came to life.

He went back on his word ( no surprise), but Dad let me and my friends drive it.
