I hope I'm making the right decision. Roehl hired me for refer. They claim they barely do overnight driving. I've never heard of that before with refer. I'm not sure if it's in my best interest to wait for things to go back to "normal" or go to this orientation Monday. I'm waiting on unemployment decision. I qualify. I think most people do right now. I don't want to sit at home doing nothing but the unemployment may pay more than Roehl. I've been having companies call me and say "i received your application but we're not hiring right now, we'll keep it on file" they claim it's because of covid. This week K&B and Roehl offered me employment and K&B's reviews were so bad i declined. Roehl though...facing camera until i prove I'm a responsible driver. This will be my 3rd company in 14 months if i go to orientation Monday. I'm not liking this jumping around at all. I backed into another semi last June. That's why I'd have the camera with Roehl. I wonder if i should wait for unemployment and find a company in June when that incident is a year old. I'd appreciate some unprejudiced, honest advice. I'm the farthest from a lazy person. Not trying to get out of work. Just want some ideas. I want to make sure I'm making the right decision for myself. Thanks
Also, is there an decrease in safety right now? I keep getting alerts of trucking robberies.

If I were you it might be best to collect your $1000 a week unemployment and then get back in the saddle after the economy opens back up. Alot of reefer company drivers are sitting, waiting on loads right now.

Thank you for that. Yeah everyone has been telling me they're not hiring right now. Wonder why Roehl is? I kinda thought it might be too good to be true.

Roehl was the first company I drove for. This was almost 8 years ago so I can't really give any reliable up to date information.

But based on my experience, I have nothing bad to say about them. They do have some silly rules like every mega but as long as you play along they treat you just fine. I would definitely go back there over sitting at home getting unemployment but that's just me.

I don't want to sit either. Its not my style but what if it's true that there's a lot a sitting right now? I'm just worried about starting a new job, making that commitment only to find that I would have made more of a living wage had I went with unemployment until things settle down

Why? Because Roehl probably has dedicated freight that can't just stop being shipped, especially if it's reefer and is food products.

The only trucks/companies that are sitting are megas with an overcapacity of trucks/drivers or o/o's that run pure spot market freight and have no dedicated freight.

Yeah I hear ya, probably the best thing would be talk with current roehl drivers and see how they are doing, try posting in the roehl forum here on TTR.

I 'm sure there will be some sitting but I cant imagine why they would be hiring if they don't have freight to move.
