Freight brokers getting loads from freight forwarders

How many of us at the desk are aware that freight forwarders give loads to brokers to cover. I know its not illegal, but do shippers know and is it a bad idea to let them know? Seems like shippers should use a broker for domestic and a forwarder for intl moves.

 

With my current situation, at least 1/3 of the biz comes from forwarders and other brokers....I struggle to prospect decent accounts because someone gets a few of their loads from a forwarder or another broker. Seems like it could potentially save a shipper some $ and with less hands in the pot it could allow for drivers to earn more $ per load.
