I used to carry chain or cable. (Much good those cables are... essentially a device to comply with the law demanding having something in certain states during chain season)

However I always run barefoot. If she starts to spin too much or you cannot walk on it physically (Ground pressure) on ice too slippery you stay put and wait for better weather.

Situation awareness of pending storms, particularly ice storms and trip planning spots to be at and make a decision to go forward or not makes all the difference. Including knowledge on types of snow. If you are in it then you drove a certain way with that 18 wheeler and you will probably get through ok. There are two pics I put up before but do it again. Southeast of sheridan WY is ice day, I was 15 mph running with a rocky doubles tanker hes at 12 to 10 both of us barefoot on chain beaten ice that started to be in the sun first time post storm. Its about 20 outside. A black car came down past him then me and spun out at 70. Plenty of time to get the old time film camera ready. This was 10 miles from Sheridan WY give or take in 1998. I was doing 10 with lockers in getting set for that big pull up out of there.

The one situation we like is that split ice. Sometimes you have pavement on one side drives and you have ice on the other side drives. Thats something we like doing. So we both had it on the shoulders and were on them. It was a good day to drive.

If you know how to chain and how to drive in snow/ice then it is a common practice to do so living in the Pacific Northwest and in the Northern Tier. If we did not drive in these conditions, nothing would be delivered. If you are afraid or lack the experience to drive in these conditions then don't do it.

Snow is bad. Recommend not driving in snow.

Hey, is it me or did a thread just disappear from the site? I think it was getting political and we were arguing about the coronavirus. I don’t recall ever seeing a thread disappear from this site. How strange.

It happens. I don't worry about it anymore. If it stays wunnerbar. If it goes oh well. There is a Zeus that lives in a large hill called Olympia. Looking for ravishing lovers online. But once in a while people talk about things that offend him.

ZAP! poof no more of that. HA/storytelling.

We used to say the same whenever up around NJ.

Sucks to hear you had to deal with a douche bag, but it sounds like you did just fine. Well done @Lumper Humper . Clearly your a LL Cool J fan..

Driving into an avalanche could cause a downward spiral.

Everyone makes fun of the snowflakes in the world...while forgetting...avalanches are made up of a lot of little snowflake. ;)

Ya know it's interesting sometimes. Small world.

I used a local DC ism one time in a phrasing at the hosptial and one of the 8 mr muscles for trauma calls near the bed bust out laughing almost like that little video there. I looked at him and traded some words. I pegged him as Alexandria VA but he said it's out of silverspring and has a history there. Where the hell I am from anyway? So I told him Bawlmo hon... He bust out laughing again. Then lapsed into a bit of that german and he pegged me really close to my block. Pretty good for what he was then.

I don't know iphones being analog here. But you want to preserve those photos right quick.

What I would really like is to capture video or photo and send off to the "Cloud" for later retrieval in real time just in case the thing gets smashed or confisicated etc.

I am getting birdies from the mall and other places that claim there isnt any business to be worth opening. People just want out. They blew their money already in toilet paper and are unemployed. No money to buy with. Still had gas int he tank from last month. So eh...

I think our powers that be has made a very bad almost fatal mistake closing America. Now they are trying to push a string against the US Customer who has nothing now. So the businesses are imploding everywhere.

It would be better to have a nuclear war at least everything is upwards from the rubble.
