Add this to a LONG list of laws that are no longer being uniformly enforced, down to the state, county and even city level. Local customs, sensibilities, what ever you wish to call it.
Starting with Brown v Board of Education the Supreme Court case in 1954 that desegregated schools, then President Eisenhower sending Federal Troops into Little Rock AR High School in 1957 to enforce that ruling, later codified with the Civil Rights Act of 1965. Can you imagine any President sending armed troops into any state to enforce anything now?
Marijuana legal in about 30 states still a Federal crime. Legal in Colorado, gets you busted as soon as you cross into Kansas.
Sanctuary cities all over the place, but don't try it in Missouri, fewest number of illegal aliens in the US.
Can't own a pistol in the New York City, Kennesaw Ga passed an ordinance to require a gun in each household.
Let's not even get into the whole abortion thing, the variations of laws and enforcement are off the chart.
It almost doesn't matter what the Supreme Court might rule on anything. Sheriffs in various Counties, like Joe Arpaio in Arizona decides what gets enforced and what doesn't .
Just pick the state, or county within a state that has a
philosophy close to your own, and move there. If the nuts in California want to let the homeless take over, fine. I know for sure it isn't go to happen in this little rural town in Indiana where I am.
I guess we finally did get the states rights the Confederates were after in "The War of Northern
    Aggression".
