Exp. driver thinking of going temporary team at USEXPRESS

Hey all,
Been drivin 3 years, 2 of them regional home weekends, last year mostly LTL for UPSFreight.

Furloughed late march, sounds like imma be sitting at least another 30, if not 60 or 90 days until volumes pick up and they bring me back on. One guy above me laid off seniority-wise, one below. The CARES Act pays me $1025/wk until July-ish, but the governator mite lift the emergency sooner, and the exemption to the work search req. might be revoked.

Now... I'm looking around, no sense working for 1400 or even 1500 a week if it means struggling to find parking, struggling to get a hot meal, cuz of COVID-19 hysteria & shutdowns everywhere... I can sit on my butt for 1025!

But, hear hear! what if I teamed? No need to park for your ten, the other guy is driving!

USExpress brags up to 80cpm split... so if I do an avg 500 a day, the other guy does 500, that's 1000 a day x 80cpm that's $400 per each of us, per day which is like 2k a week

I'd be doing this for a month or three until UPSF freight volumes jump back up they calls me back into work.

What are the cons to doing this? Esp. w/ USPEXRESS?

Anyone wanna team w/ me lol? I SUCK at driving between the hours of 1am and 4am, I'm not a nite owl, but can wake up early at 4am and get going if I hafta and don't start getting sleepy until like 1030/1100pm. I do the limit, I'm not a big speeder, but with some encouragement and the prospect of 2k a week on a W2 before me, I could push out 500miles a day...

caveats? pros? cons? what am I missing here?

yeah this is the sorta advice I was looking for!

MrEd, so if you're banging out 1300 a day, are you getting a good long sit down meal everyday? a hot shower? or are you using the birdbath method & eating hotdogs?

What is the quality of life w/ that much driving? When I was regional "otr" I rarely did more than 2200 miles in a week, often under 1800, lots of NYC deliveries etc.

I've decided for now I'm going to sit and wait to get called back into my LTL job, honestly I'd rather bop around southern NH doing 10+ stops a day, getting in and out of the truck, backing off weird street angles into docks & delivering to all sorts of houses & shops & warehouses. EDIT: lumping off w/ a pallet jack is great exercise, and now I know how to use a forklift!

So i actually did a little teaming this year @ current job hauling us mail. Just a quick 2 day run, out 4am thurs back 2am sat... excellent $$$, sleeping was EASY! But gdmn i got BORED w8ng for my drive shift 2 start after wakin up...

Deffy not healthy. Felt funny after just a 2 day run. Can't imagine doin it fulltime if other options. *shakes head*
