    LoL, thanks for playing everyone!

I was wondering about the 3.50 rears in a HH tractor as well. 1200 @65 mph.? Ok, yeah I've heard of Cats famous gear fast run slow strategy but man, not at 160klbs gross..

The price seems outrageous, the mpg claim is absurd, & what did y'all think about the "sworn statement" to verify the actual mileage..

Odds are that truck will have a bunch of non-essential parts fall off. It seems we're not quite as fussy about that sort of thing up here.

Nope. As I stated in another thread, "Omit in alberta" is written across all emission equipment in the cvip manual. And front drop visor restrictions..
We have a maxxforce dt in a bus. Spent 18k trying to keep it working. Had enough, its been deleted for the last 160k, 5 years. Haven't had a single check engine lamp since. When we inframed it we left all the junk off. Looks like a real engine.
Operators with cummins are deleting as soon as warranty is up.
We are now buying gas buses. International uses the psi 8.8. Its developed from the big block Chevy. 8.8L, low rpm. 570ft/lbs tq at 1400 rpm, 266hp at 2400, which is redline. Maybe a 10% fuel economy penalty.

I've been kicking around the idea of buying my own service truck lately. I've seriously been considering the 6.4 Hemi or the 7.3 gas Ford over the diesels. Power-wise they have about as much torque as the early-mid 90's diesel and 2-3x the HP. Plus they're about $10-12k cheaper right off the bat.

6.4 is hot rod, but also a major pig.
7.3 gasser ford is unknown, but gm and ford use the identical transmissions. Both the 6spds and 10 speeds were codesinged.
Gm and international both make a med 45-5500 together. Looks sweet. Body/cab is gm. Frame and running gear are binder. Engine is the 6.6l duramax, however international isnt allowed to use that name.
In the states you can get chev and international versions. International only in Canada for 2 years.
If a 1 ton will do, gas chevy all day...

We have a cummins powered international bus. Sweet set up, except cummins gets to spend 3k every winter on the def system. I have that bus on a run that sees a lot of sustained hwy running. 0 egr /dpf issues in 4 years. In town runs, gas is the way to go.
There is enough bus nerds around here deleting, im in the process of getting a lic to delete using dieselspec..

i have a freind with a 5500 dodge with a cummins. By 60k he needed to remove the entire intake and egr system for cleaning. Wasn't covered under warranty. Intake was plugged up to the point engine was breathing thru a hole the size of a walnut.

6.4 has issues with exhaust manifold studs breaking off. Had a freind with a 6.4 in a power wagon. 4.56 gears, needed to fuel in wandering river towing his camper. Grassland was a stretch.

The LS platform is THE best gas engine on the market IMO. Put 320k on a Vortec 4800. Never once was it plugged in (even at -40) and never failed to start within 4 seconds of cranking. When I sold it, not so much as a damp spot anywhere on the engine. Oil change ever 8k kilometers, 2 sets of plugs. Ran with an Airaid intake, catback exhaust and Predator tune. Drove the living snot out of that thing.

Old man had the Vortec 5300. He sold it and the new owner made it to 500k on the original powertrain.

Some of you are like "dang sar all you do is cook food and why aren't you in the field"! Well it won't quit raining and we can't get in the fields at the moment.
