hey guys, wanted to give update on my search and get more advice :biggrin_25520: I've found a 2000 Freightliner 430/470 with 800,000 miles. 10 speed autoshift and 3.73 gears. the down payment is 2850.00 and payments are 1090.00/month for 26 months. it comes with a 2 yr/400,000 mile warranty on the engine, trans, rear end and the turbo. at the end of 26 months, there is a 2000.00 buy out. what do you guys think?

Also, Pharm.... can you pm me your e-mail or can i post my address? I would like to ask you some question about your paper work process on authority ect... Thanks guys and you all be safe!!!

So roughly $32,000 for a 10 year old FL? For $10,000 down here in GA I can find roughly the same FL or even a 2000 Pete 379 in excellent condition. With roughly the same miles. For $30,000 I can get a 5 year old Pete 387.

    Pilot,
I would stay away from that deal, I am looking at a 2006 FL with a tick over 400,000 miles on it for 31,000.00 and its in AL. If you buy something as old as the one youare looking at with all them miles one it. You have to ask your self if you can keep up with the repairs it is going to need. And how soon will it need them, I would hate for you to be one of the ppl whos truck is nickle and dime you to death.

Holy Crap.... I spent the entire day today from 8 am until now ( 5:10pm) reading this thread from the very beginning. Amazing is all I can say. Years ago I did basically the same thing with a bunch of worn out oilfield equipment. Worked night and day on it ...side of the road repairs etc. I was told by everybody I was nuts. I gave up a division managers job with a large independent company making over 100k a year with a full expense account to go out on my own. i took every penny that I had in the bank used up all of the available credit cards sold my old corvette that I restored myself etc. It was a ##### at times but it was also some of the best times I ever had. I couldn't count on all my fingers and toes the times when I would go to the post office to check the box hoping there would be enough payments to pay payroll or pay my suppliers. Somehow we always found a way. When things were slow we never had to let anyone go everyone would just make a little less. When things were good everybody got to share in that too. I eventually sold the company to a big company and made out very well. I admire the pharms and MM's and broncs and all the others on here who may only be making it from settlement to settlement or repair to repair. I doubt that I could tell you much about when I worked for others but I have a million stories about working for myself. You havent lived until you've dipped water from a ditch with your boots to fill an overheated radiator to get you down the road. It truely isnt a job its adventures you'll sit around and tell when your to old to do it anymore. You never know whats waiting for you just down the road. Enjoy it .

look at shcneider websight. much better deals for newer rigs. not the strongest motors but so far haven't found any better deals yet. they have 2004's for 17k. around 600k miles.

one of the posters on this thread mentioned a dealer, and from what i've looked at. seems to have the best financing i've found yet.
might even look at the local auctions. we've got one coming up next weekend. over 200 rigs. all about 3-4 years old.
