Yeah, I posted that in the wrong thread for some reason.

I think Prime requires new drivers to have no pets or riders for their first 60 or 90 days after they get their own truck.

I think that's correct; can take a pet after being assigned a truck.

Lots of options in Utah. I had a good training experience with Swift at their Phoenix, AZ Academy several years ago. Have since moved on. Whichever company you choose, stay put for at least 1 year. The first year in this industry is crucial! Learn clock management, trip planning, map reading. Learn to pick up and deliver on time, every time. Hone your backing skills. All of the above takes time and patience. Good luck to you.

If you decide to go with Prime, be prepared for a very long training process (without your furry friend) I've heard/read that you can be in training for up to 4 months before being seated in your own truck. Also beware, they are primarily a lease option company, although they do have company drivers. Please, as a newbie, avoid the temptation to lease no matter how great they make it sound. And they WILL make you think that is the way to go!

"Earn your Class A CDL through a 1-to-1 driving experience with a certified Prime trainer."

Translation: Your Trainer is a lease op that needs the extra money to make his $1300.00 per week lease payment on his/her truck. This is not exclusive to Prime, I'm not singling them out. The majority of trainers/mentors at all of the Megas are L/O's, that find themselves becoming trainers in order to pay the huge overhead they incur. There are some good trainers at these companies, but they certainly aren't in the majority. Regardless, learn what you can from them, bite your tongue when necessary, get through the training process whatever it takes. The REAL learning will begin when you go solo. You really have to gut it out for your first year in this racket. It will get easier and you can make a decent paycheck with the right company

Prime isn't taking students right now. I'm trying to find a job driving as we speak. Nobody is taking students. I'm trying Andrus next.

Prime is not taking students right now. I applied day before yesterday. That's what I was told. I've applied to every company who takes inexperienced driver's, but they all say they aren't taking students right now. I'm going to try Doug Andrus next I'm getting nervous I won't find anything.
