I just got my CDL last year April 18th 2019, I only have a little over 5 months experience (it’s been hard getting a local job with no experience) but I was recently fired from my last job at Performance Food Group because I was driving and I looked down for a second and next thing you know I was running into a brick wall with the left side of the tractor. I messed the tractor up pretty bad, but no one was hurt only minor property damage to the brick wall and of course the right side of the tractor was banged up pretty bad. The policeman gave me a ticket for failure to control speed DOT didn’t get involved and the policeman didn’t ask a whole lot of questions. The company made me take a drug test and all of that but it was all clean. I need some advice. Is it going to be hard getting a new job? Should I just stop looking for trucking jobs and do something else? I’m at a crossroads and don’t really know what to do. I prefer to stay local, am I going to have to go OTR for a while, is that even a possibility?

Let's stop for a second and really think about the seriousness of what you just posted here. What if that brick wall was a person? I don't want to grill you, but please... be safe out there.

Anyway, I think you will be ok to get rehired somewhere. Worst case scenario, you might have to drive for western Express for a year, lol.

    The most important question:
Have you learned to put your phone down while driving? Or did you fall asleep?

I am interested in more detail?
If I were you. When talking to another prospective employer. I would be as critical of myself as possible.

Looked down for a second then hit a brick wall? How does that even happen? Western express will definitely give you a job you will have to be over the road working long hours for very little money but it is what it is. Western express lives off of New truck drivers and driveres that crash and no one else will hire

Kyle G. and Cattleman84 Thank this.
