Not embarrassed at all, I know I made a mistake, I just came here to get some advice from other truck drivers... Didn’t know if I should continue looking for driving jobs or not

We've already told you, we can't help you if we don't know your location.
The ball is in your court; if you want to continue in this profession, let us know your location.
If not, then look for another line of work.

I got in here to get some advice from experienced drivers. My boss at PFG told me that it wasn’t the end of my trucking career, kind of hard to believe tho. It was hard getting a local job as a new driver in the first place. I’ve had some people tell me that I should apply at a construction company driving dump trucks and belly dumps. That’s probably what I’m going to do until this is off my record, if I can’t get hired there I’m just going to cut my losses and look for a different career. I’m still kinda young only 24. It just sucks because I paid $4,500 last year for my CDL to get into CDL School! But I understand everything happens for a reason and I made a huge mistake! Not a day goes by that I don’t think what if it could have been an actual person that I hit or possibly even killed. So I’m just thankful that it was only property damage because it could have been much worse

Everyone has different opinions, I think you're gonna have to get with western express for 3 years until this mistake falls off your record. Working for western sucks, you will make 500 dollars a week working 70 hour weeks and you will be over the road for 2 months at a time before being allowed to take one week off. It sucks but thats the way it will probably work out

I consider myself an experienced driver. I had close to 30 years in when I retired in 2012. I can tell you what I would do if I were hiring. With less than a year and termination, I would not hire you unless I was in serious need to get a warm body in a truck. Then I would send you out with another driver to assess your habits.

As far as advice let me say this. When a driver does "stupid" and it causes a monetary loss and/or a service failure upon being fired your options shrink! The only way to "fix" this is to pay your dues and rebuild your reputation. Continue to do this and those options shrink to the point that the only carrier that would consider hiring you is on the FMCSA watch list. You DO NOT want to get involved with such a carrier.

No, you are not finished, but the options are limited at this point. I just challenge you to stop dividing your attention between "crap" and your driving duties, ESP in close up situations! Smartphones and texting etc are causing a lot of problems with all kinds of vehicles on the road. Do you want to have a long productive career in this industry? Then give some serious thought to my words!
