Hi my name is David. I went to truck driving school and got my CDL Class A Nov 2014. When I first started applying and speaking with recruiters, because I had a misdemeanor for drug paraphernalia (2012) they all rejected me and told me I had to wait until I hit my 5 yrs mark from my conviction date. So I waited the three years but ended up catching a felony charge in 2016 ( finalized in 2019: probation 3 yrs off after 1 yr with no new charges and pay restitution and probation). My one year mark is coming up 9/27/20 I have just about paid off all my fees for probation. I have one company willing to work with me while being on probation, but I have to get the judge to approve travel. Long story short time has been passing me by almost 6 yrs this November with no experience outside of trucking school and Probation, so far no company is willing to bring me on. What do I need to do???? One of the small but very important reasons for me trying to still get in is so that I can pay the last bit of my probation off before my one year mark hits. The biggest reason is so that I can be able to better provide for my little princess. Just looking for advice on how I can get into trucking with my probation restrictions a Ind lack of driving experience.

The first thing you need to do is stop doing felonies.

“Seeking knows and advice to my complicated situation”.
Your situation is not complicated. You knew what you needed to do, to get a good job to “support your little princess”, and you committed a felony anyway. I have no idea how to fix your life, besides, as aptly stated above, stop committing felonies. Stop committing misdemeanors. Get whatever job you can get, that is honest work. Live right and do what is right in all situations. Make good decisions in your life, and own your actions. There is no “accidentally catching a felony”. You committed a crime. If your “little princess” and a good job were important to you, you wouldn’t have committed your crimes, you would have done what is necessary to take care of your “little princess”.
But, I don’t want to just chew your butt and leave you without hope. You would need to go sell yourself to a small private carrier that would be willing to take you on and train you. Find some guy that has just a hand full of trucks that is very understanding. Or, if you own your own truck, and have your own authority, if your all legal, no one can say you can’t create your own opportunities.chimbotano, Coffey, TripleSix and 2 others Thank this. -
If you had come on this forum in 2014 we could have found a job for you the day you graduated from driving school.
That's in the past though.
What travel restrictions do you have and when does that end?
You posted you have one company willing to hire you, so that's better than nothing.
There's a few OTR companies that will probably hire you, if you can travel. -
Western Express.
