I went through this in 2017, hadn't driven fulltime since 1985, kept my license up, worked parttime repo'ing rigs for a friend when he needed some help. No one would hire me without recent fulltime experience, or they wanted to hire me as if I didn't have a license. I was able to get the State to pay for a 160 hour refresher course, which was painful, it is boring, as all you do is the same thing as those trying to get their license, except I was getting in more street driving than they were. I ended up at a mega, sucked up 12,000 miles of training, then they cut me loose solo. Wasn't all that bad, but would rather have been trained by someone I know, would have made it easier to share the truck with.
