I applied for a trucking owner operator position and was not hired on because of age discrimination, certainly not because of my decades long experience in the trucking business. These people wasted weeks of my time before responding to me, then required me to obtain a now otherwise useless Hazmat endorsement before interviewing me over the phone. The pay is not worth the risk and responsibility as there are other opportunities without the need of a Hazmat endorsement that have the same or better earning potential without having to deal with their toxic commodities and ambitious corporate types. Stay away from this top heavy outfit they will treat you the same way. Please be advised

But as the devil's advocate can you see why you must have a hazmat endorsement before the process continues?
Otherwise it's a waste of their time, and having that HM endorsement will allow you other opportunities in this business.

I feel for the poster and all but unless you were actually hired and working, you don’t have any skin in the game to give a review. Clean Harbors is actually a pretty decent company.

You thought they were good enough to apply to, get a hazmat endorsement , and interview with. But now they are donkey dewdee because they didn't hire you?
They may be bad, but other then taking awhile to respond & claiming age discrimination without any details. The rest just seems vindictive because they didn't hire you.

    My new song "Donkey Dewdee":

*In a slow tempo, smokey voiced, Vegas lounge lizard type vibe*

You, yeah, you... You thought they were hot stuff. Oh yeah, you were happy like Howdy Doody. But, then they turned you down. Oh yeah, they sent you down the road and now they're nothing but "donkey dewdee"...

I really like how the donkey dewdee at the end crescendo'd to the rafters. Nice touch!

By the way, I'll be here all week. TRY THE FISH!

I wonder how well that’d go with my cape, and if It’d be good for hanging upside down in?

Hmmm...age discrimination thats odd I work for Clean Harbors and we have drivers that are in there 70's and actually have a friend that retired couple years ago as a driver at 78.
So I dont think they discriminate for age.
As for the hazmat, well uhm all we pretty much deal with is hazwaste/hazmat so why would you even apply without already obtaining a hazmat endorsement or think you wouldn't have to?

It is a good company, I have friends who are o/o here, I have been here since 2011. While I now work out of a truck in the field so I could be home daily the money is good and well worth having the endorsement.
I made as a drive around 100k a year (company driver) and that was 4yrs ago. I have friends that are drivers making $115k a year as a company driver and most are home weekly.
So tell me again why this is a bad company?
