Hi drivers...lately I have developed a pretty bad wrist and hand pain. I drive OTR a 2019 International LT. It seems like all the shocks and bumps of the road travels right through the steering wheel and into my hands. Seems like the truck suspension doesn't do a good job of absorbing the shocks. Is this normal? I suspect Internationals are just crappy made trucks.

You're probably holding the wheel too tight or at a bad angle. Place your hands in different locations throughout the day to see if it helps.

Ya am trying different seat positions and holding patterns, no difference in pain. I bought one of those steering wheel spinner things, it helps a little bit but pain still there

Is it happening to both of your hands? Did you hurt your hands doing something else?

    Carpal tunnel syndrome.
    Many drivers get it.
They can fix it with a simple surgery.
    Had mine fixed in 1987.
    100 percent successful.

I thought suicide knobs were not allowed in larger companies? Unsafe and ruin the wheel eventually. You probably need to relax more. These trucks have power steering, don't overthink it.

On your next opportunity, I suggest getting both your hands and those wrists X-rayed! Just the general things a trucker does is hard on them. I am glad the carpal tunnel issue was brought up. You can damage these passageways by hitting a hard surface, slipping on crap, and catching by use of the hands. Gaming was also brought up. You can cause inflammation of those passageways if you use a keyboard improperly. The reason this is a problem is the carpal tunnel is a nerve passageway through the carpal creation of the wrists and these things are bony. Hand, Get those hands X-rayed ASAP! The pain is telling you something is wrong.

I've been driving all of my life and occasionally I just develop a pain somewhere for awhile. I have had long bouts of pain or discomfort in my hands, arms, hips and right leg. Lately I have one in my right ankle which I think is from holding the accelerator for long drives. They all go away eventually. Try to change things up and give it time.

I'm closing in on 50 but I've had stuff like this bother me for months sometimes since my 30's.

Exercise however you can whenever you can.
