Wait till we have self driving truck ! I'm driving a 2020 Cascadia with Driver Assistance 4.0 it has adaptive cruise control and emergency braking if needed. It a good system so far I'm impressed with it. I show on the dash how fast traffic in front of truck is going. If someone cut in front of truck and they are going same speed or faster it won't to anything other then back of the power a little to increase the following distance.

When it see slower traffic less then 3.9 seconds in front of you it fast to react. Depending on how slow they are going

 

Im glad its working well for you. What happens when snow covers the radar, or when a plastic bag or leaves or other garbage gets picked up and covers it? I know those systems have been nothing but problems up here in the land of animals, snow, and poor road markings.

I have same system and it will apply the brakes based on radar and based on the camera. It's dangerous and it will do this with cruise-control on or off and with your foot on the accelerator or not on the pedal. About once or twice per month the system will misinterpret a shadow or an overpass or overhead sigh as an obstacle and make a panic stab at the brakes. My heirscare going to be rich.

 

Easy solution, stop getting a sleep studies done. Then you won't need the bs cpap machine.

 

I don't have the camera and the system has only applies the brakes one time when nothing was their in 117,000 miles. If someone it less then 3.9 seconds and traffic slows it will slow the truck

 

I get warning on the dash the system is not active. In heavy rain it will shut down also

 

When I first got my license I got hired at one of those 1099 Chicago companies. They just gave me keys and told me to run. No training, no nothing. First run was to North Carolina from what I can remember.

Boss says”, The load is ready. You going to North Carolina tomorrow morning. Don’t be late”. It was nighttime and raining. I’m glad I made out alive of out Tennessee. I still remember driving through fancy gap ( it was it mount eagle ?) and Ashville like it was yesterday.

 

That was outright irresponsibility on the boss's part.
