My experience has been different, the majority of drivers were grateful; maybe they were just incompetent like me; I’ve resorted to letting my hazards flash twice lmao “Thanks for letting me over, now we’re gonna come to a complete stop”

@farmerjohn64 you are doing good. I find it funny how so many drivers talk about how there is no brotherhood and respect amongst us drivers anymore and when someone new like you comes along and wants to try to bring it back or at least keep what little there is left going they yell at you to mind you're own business and they can pass and change lanes just fine without your help. This is one reason why there is no more brotherhood anymore. Guys take it as an insult to there ability to drive instead of an “hey driver how you doing hand come on over the lane is yours, travel safe my friend, happy trails, and thank you.”

Night time= turn headlights off for a few seconds to signal “clear”. No high beam flash. Once passing truck turned on right signal you turned headlights back on.
Flash clearance lights on/off a couple times to signal “thanks”. Some guys had different styles of doing this in how many times or the speed they would flash. Mine is 2 fast ( one counts) and 1 off for count of 2 and than on. One old hand that brought me up flashed clearance 5 times fast every time. He said that was the signal his outfit in ww2 used when the warbirds were coming in for landing.
Daytime= turn headlights on for a few counts for “clear” . High beams are fine for this. As soon as passing truck turns on right signal you turn headlights back off.
Flash clearance lights same for “thanks”
Somewhere along the line hazards being flashed became a thing and not sure when or where it originated but being from the south I only noticed it up in the northeast first maybe 20-25 years ago. On the I-10 corridor we did not do that.
This is all well and good but we gotta work together to actually make this communication amongst us work again.Coffey, D.Tibbitt, Rideandrepair and 5 others Thank this. -
