Off truck route ticket

As far as I know, if it’s a local ordinance usually no points and no record. I paid a ticket in Linden, NJ few years ago. Just like the cop told me there was no record and no points.

 

First, what did you get a ticket for? What's the exact code on the citation? If they wrote it up as an overweight ticket that would be different than writing up as a "failure to follow a traffic control device". Did you get a CVSA inspection?

Getting points on your license is a state thing. As such to answer the question the state is needed to be known.
If you are thinking CSA points, that is 100% to the carrier and not to the driver.
If you are thinking PSP, there are no points, it's just a report of all violations.
Both CSA and PSP would need an official CVSA inspection form with a violation noted on it to even be on record.

 

Good thing is then it's likely simply a fine and done.
Even if your state has points on the license, I doubt it will go to it.

 

Keep a copy of tic. and money order that you paid tic. some/where that you can show it if years later in another state they say you have a un/paid tic. and cant leave unless you ride the bus with bars in windows back to state that gave tic?

 

This is an excellent suggestion any time you pay a ticket by mail, or with credit card whatever. The clerks that process these things are not the sharpest knife in the drawer. And make sure you put it somewhere where you can find it, a special file marked for such things.

 

Might I suggest you join OOIDA and get CDL Legal drivers protection plan. It’s only 32.50 a month and we’ll worth the cost. All you would have to do is send that ticket in. I would bet that would be the last you would have had to deal with that.

 

Is that plan really worth it? I have thought about signing up again. I was apparently signed up at some point. Not sure how, because I don't remember ever signing up but I kept getting stuff in the mail from OOIDA indicating that I was a member. Maybe a carrier had signed me up for it and I somehow missed that.
