I have taken this advice since 2008. When delivering in those area’s the attitudes I observed were quite the opposite of the guys I met in the Marine Corp, some of the best people. Never going back!

The loophole for company drivers is if a no firearms company policy exists at the time you fire a shot. The 2nd amendment and self defense will prevent you from serving time. But like I said, if a no firearms policy exists at the time you fire a shot, this will become a gateway for the family of the victim to go after you. Then you end up paying for repercussions and punitive damages with all of your money.
The solution: work for a company that doesn’t have a no firearms policy or just be an o/o (I’m not talking about lease operators. Re-read your lease agreement word for word because I guarantee to you somewhere in there says “no firearms”). -

Can I sue my employer after a workplace shooting? - Marketplace
If an employer does not have a "no weapons " policy, and one of their employees shoots someone, then the employer can be held liable. -
When you get sued in court, it’s going to be the victims family vs you and *insert name of your company*. Millions of dollars will be settled before the trial even starts.
But I know people who fight back to their last breath. My friend is an o/o. He owns 5 trucks and has 4 people driving for him. One of his drivers was safely parked at a rest area. A drunk 4wheeler came driving by, hit the trailer and died. The family sued my friend for 1 million (lol). This was in 2009, and the case is still going as of 2020. He isn’t backing down. -
