That's just pathetic, the only irritating noise my 97 W9 with nearly 1.9 million has is the upholstery on the door panel vibrates and makes an irritating buzzing noise at dead idle waiting at stoplights and such, a touch of silicone on the back fixes that right up.

The one thing I will give props to PACCAR, last year they gave my boss a tour of the factory/testing in Washington State. He spent 3 days there on their dime, they had a Euro tractor (forget the brand) that they were testing, running through the paces, none of the visitors could drive it though. I watch YouTube videos all the time of the various Euro truck manufacturers. Not sure how much is a put on for the videos, but the fit/finish/build quality on those trucks looks decades ahead of what we get, not to mention some of the cab features, admittedly because of the cabover design, would be darn nice to have here as well. If only NHTSA/IIHS would come into the 21st century and let us have some of the European technology when it comes to headlights, it would be a miracle. I've had the chance to sit in an Audi simulator with the European matrix LED headlight, Volvo, MB and Scania offer it on trucks too, it's 100x better than anything we get. Sad but true, most new Cadillacs use a modified matrix LED headlight system, with the matrix system deactivated because NHTSA won't allow it, if they change their mind, it's a 1 hr trip to the dealer for a computer hook up, a few buttons.

The boss installed these weird rubber panels on the front edge of the doors that's supposed to cut down on the rain/spray swirl that happens on the Mack's, it works, but it tripled the wind noise above 65 mph, if not for that noise, my truck would be quite quiet.

On my 579 the steering wheel is to the left of center of the seat.

Same is true for century, columbia, t660, t680, 579, w900, cascadia, and pro star (all the trucks I’ve ever driven). It’s always a couple inches left of my center. I believe it’s the same for all trucks for added dash space and for the shifter.

Unfortunately the T680 is just like the casadilla that Freightliner and other mfg’s are going after fleet market. Premium trucks still have good build quality but not the fleet spec junk, fleets like to buy. the Mack anthem I drove was a disappointment, couldn’t get a manual and leg room was horrendous. Sleeper small as hell.
The T680’s have no storage and your right they are a fleet junk truck. W990 is just a 680 cab and sleeper with a extended t880 hood. W 900L is still a great truck

I toured the factory and proving grounds back in '98, got to see one of the trucks we ordered being built on the line. at the proving grounds they drove us all around their test track in a Dodge van, that paved hill is pretty steep. incredible place. also got to watch them drop aluminum fuel tanks full of water off the roof of the building. that was cool to see.
