Turned out the 2 focus that I thought were hatchbacks were actually sedans + an edge. I had 11 ft left on the trailer and the escape was a little under 15. Didn't fit...

Looks like your new setup is working out well for you. Good to see you're getting to where you want to be...

My guess is that Dodge, GM, et,al, rate their axles somewhat conservatively and partly on braking ability as a solo vehicle. With a good engine brake and the trailer axles doing their part... YMMV.

Do slotted rotors and big brake pads enhance the braking considerably?
Does the Ram 5500 stop better than the 3500? Are the brakes any different?singlescrewshaker Thanks this. -
I believe the 5500 does have bigger brakes.

EDIT: Nope i was wrong, 3500 seems to be 360mmItsbrokeagain and singlescrewshaker Thank this. -
drilled or slotted rotors aren’t advised on heavier duty vehicles. Fine for motorcycles and sports cars if it’s done right. Pads would be an easy upgrade. The EBC Yellowstuffs always get rave reviews on the Ford forum I read. I have them on the front on mine and it was a noticable improvement over a generic OEM replacement. There are probably caliper upgrade kits for the front as well that bolt onto the 3500 front hubs but then your talking a few bucks.
