I just talked with a recruiter...Looking to get a few answers from drivers/former drivers....

    1) She was pretty vague on how long those trucks will idle when you are not in the temperature range (under 32 or above 80 I think it was)......Question : How long will they idle when not in temperature range ? I like to make myself some breakfast in the morning and cook meals here and there....What do I have to do to keep the truck idling ?

    2) They pay zipcode to zipcode, and you have to go by their routing...She also says they try to avoid toll roads as much as possible....How often do you get screwed by their routing ? Is it a big pain ?

    3) They have about 60% live loads and unloads....I see their detention pay is a paltry $10/hr after 4 hours....That's awful.....What's your average time getting loaded and unloaded ?

    4) She told me they have 248 tractors but only 150 trailers...What's up with that ? How can you have less trailers than tractors ? It makes no sense to me...How can you keep trucks running like that ?

    5) What do you average per week in $$$ ? What have you taken home in a year ?

    6) Do you/ Did you like working for them ?

    thanks, BT

Also, what about bobtail distance ?She seemed to be a little vague on that as well ?

And, how long does it take for tank clean outs ? And, do you get paid for them ?

After the toll road question I would have thanked her and gone onto another prospective job.

Do you work there now?. There are a few food grade haulers in that area. Hard to know if one is any better than the other.

Tank wash out takes about 30 mins to an hour from they take you in. Time depends on type of wash being done and how on the ball the wash guys are. Of course add in extra time if there are other trucks ahead of you.

The large tank washes also serve as a drop yard so you can sometimes just drop off your dirty, hook to a clean one and book.

    BlueThunderr Thanks this.

I worked for Bynum. Decent outfit. I wouldn’t consider them a mega carrier. I never had issues with toll roads. I took what route I wanted. Not going OOR but common sense. As for loading and unloading. Most of it is pretty quick. Longest I waited was in California. 30 hours to unload. Rest of it is say 2 hours tops. Trucks aren’t anything special. But newer and decent. Thing I hated the most was if you turned on windshield wipers it would kick your CC off.
