    In all my years, and literally thousands of loads, I never used a lumper. As a company driver I was paid to unload the wagon. As an O/O, the loads didn't pay enough as it was, much less a lumper fee, so I did it myself. These guys are crooks, too. A friend, hauled a load of strawberries from Cal. to Roundy's in Milwaukee, that tipped over inside, he claims, because they used crummy string, and were in cahoots with the lumpers on the other end that had to restack the whole load. I think some places, unless you are a company driver, require lumpers. Like the guy says, it's a loophole in the industry been going on for years.
