I dont understand. Seems to me that a carrier would prefer to let you sit and wait for one of THEIR loads,Instead of going to a load board or a broker and getting something that worldly likely pay the carrier less but the driver the same.
Oh! wait, now I do, doesn't cost the carrier anything to let you sit and wait (or does it?).
Back in the late 90's I was a dispatcher for a household goods mover, I would constantly be in the dog house for not hauling our own shipments (the company gets more $$$). The company I worked for was an agent for united van lines, so I could get loads from them or use our bookings. So my choice was either load the driver with shipments from United Van Lines or make the driver wait until OUR shipments loaded, the got paid the same either way. Needless to say a lot of our drivers were NOT waiting, and thus I was in trouble a lot. The drivers were making a lot of $$$, which was my #1 goal.
The drivers were not happy when I left. I went in and asked to do some side work giving estimates to people (had a baby on the way), at which time I was informed a) thats was part of my job NOW if they wanted to make me do them I had to, b) you are not hauling enough of our shipments if you dont like it go find another job. I found another job that paid more. I did apolgize to all of the driver for leaving, I liked working there but I needed the money for the new baby, and the second, and the third... (actually there is only 2).![]()

I feel your pain Dino and Rob. Both of y'all breathe deep and hang in there.
PharmPhail Thanks this. -
Dino not sure if this is a option and I shouldn't say anything but we normally bounce up to KS outta Fort Worth. Now I understand this is a ways. So yes that is the bad thing. The other bad thing is it doesn't pay worth a crap. But I think the loads come from Cheap and Heavy Robinson. Just thought if you were sitting maybe you could try it, or look into it.
Also Rob, Suck it up. It's only gonna get worse before it gets better. The way the economy is, things aren't done yet. Before it's all said and done, I think a lot of your o/o's are going to be done. Just my opinion. -
On the phone... trailer was impounded.
