Heres the difference... When uber was slow, what did you do? Sit at home and watch TV, or go visit family or do some thing fun?

When you at having a slow weekbin trucking you are stuck with that truck, in some God forsaken #### hole if a truck stop... All the while waiting for a broker or dispatch to call and tell you where your next load is... Or where it IS NOT... Lol

Oh come on now... That was a beautiful drive through the country... Lol.

To the OP... If you want to go true OTR, you will need to be comfortable driving an 80,000 pound brick in ALL weather conditions... That includes blinding blizzards where the snowbis coming down so hard and so fast it looks like you are going 100 mph about to hit a solid white wall, the wind is blowing 45 to 60 mph pushing you all over the skating rink called an interstate, and you are praying you make it off the road alive... All while actually traveling only 20 mph. You may only experience this once, but you WILL experience it. Anything less than that is normal driving.

Ok so that might be a little over exaggerated... But not by much. @D.Tibbitt can testify better than most what a brutal Wyomimg winter is like... He thinks I'm crazy, because I ENJOY most driving in Wyoming... And I go through there every week, most weeks twice, all year round. It is probably some of the most dangerous winter driving this country has to offer.

I'm with you brother, I've spent enough time in the patch between Colorado, Wyoming, and NoDak that winter driving is only an inconvenience most days. I've shutdown more for wind with an underweight load than I have snow.

hopeful eyes and Cattleman84 Thank this.

There’s money in trucking but just like any other job, you have to put in the work and earn every cent. You’ll get a lot of negative and discouraging comments from super truckers, DO NOT listen to them. I drove OTR for 8 years and made really good money. And back in December of 2017, I started doing local gig and I’m loving everything about it. Trucking is amazing, and I would advise you to contact @Chinatown if you have more questions.
