I tend to agree. While it's great to see "pride in their rides", a clean older truck just grabs my attention more. That Freightliner with the long wheelbase, probably rides nice, but a hassle getting around, I'd think. I remember, after length laws were abolished, some pretty long tractors came out. Big job changing frame rails.

If I knew then what i know now I would of kept it. I ran a lot of NY city at the time and I often worried about people running into it or not finding a part. It was a good old truck for the most part. I put a lot of thought and work into fixing it and cleaning it up too

Since cabovers came up....here’s mine. Dad bought it new back in 1980. He sold it in 1989 and after he passed away in 1991 I’ve always wanted to get it back. Then when grandma passed away in 2014 and I found the build sheet, sales invoice, and some other things in her basement getting this truck back became a priority. I approached the guy multiple times about it and he would never sell. Finally last November I showed up unannounced at his door with an envelope of cash and ended up driving it 50 miles home crying my eyes out the whole way. Plans are to restore it back stock, with the exception of a modern Airliner cutoff on the rear and possibly swapping the Big Cam for an N14. I just gotta get it hauled to Durkin Diesel sometime.
