I have worked for my company 2-1/2 years, I was drug tested upon hire. I was drug tested when I had a car smash into me, I was not at fault. The point of this thread, best to my knowledge the company does not do random drug testing. Knowing the quality of drivers he often hires I have no doubt some would fail, which why they dont test I presume. I am wondering how they get away with this. Apparently no one monitors companies to ensure compliance with DOT drug testing mandates?
How does my employer get away with this

If so they are required to by law to drug test you. How do you know they don’t drug test people? By law they can’t announce who they drug test, it would violate hippa laws.Lonesome, alds and Northern Nomad Thank this. -
In the 5 years prior to working for my current company I never got pulled for a random. Much like the OP said, the companies I worked for then did a lot of shady things, out of either ignorance or straight up crookedness.
I suppose those numbers are easy to hide, as opposed to a DOT reportable accident where they would have to throw you to the wolves.farmerjohn64 Thanks this. -
bad-luck Thanks this.

They probably are testing but maybe they just test a couple of the same drivers over and over because they don't mind doing it and they know they are clean. Maybe they get a bonus for doing it.
One thing that I do know for sure is that my company tells us at orientation that they test 10 or 20% of the drivers every single month. That should mean that I would be tested every 5-10 months. I've gone through the orientation 4 times because it is required every time you take a month or longer vacation and in 5+ years I've only ever been tested at orientation.
Mathematics says that I should have been tested randomly at least 4 or up to 12 times already yet somehow it hasn't happened a single time.
I'm not going to complain about it though.Lonesome, Truckermania and G13Tomcat Thank this. -
Been driving for two years, two months, since this journey began, I’ve had seven drug tests. One upon entering school, selected for a random while in school, one for first perspective job at orientation, twice. I did not take those jobs so I moved onto the next place where I work now and they of course drug tested me as well. At then pulled in for a random. SEVEN times in 26 months.

I get picked for a random about every 2 years. Get paid for the time spent doing it too.

I've worked for these bottom of barrel companies
A long time ago. When I had no other choice.
We we're all bottom of the barrel drivers
For one reason or another.
Yea, drivers got high.
The owner, who didn't pay enough to get good
Drivers, knew who got high and who didn't.
So he would random the ones he knew would
Past the test.
The ones he knew did drugs would get a phone
Call from him, and he'd tell them they had to do
A random drug test.
But it would be 2 months from now.
Giving them plenty of time to clean out.
Now that's old school stuff.
But it's done more than you think.
Usually at small 10 to 20 truck operations.
You just worry about yourself.
It's his business,he can hire whoever he wants
And run it anyway he wants.Last edited: Jul 13, 2020

Getting good at doing drug tests, had 2 in 3 months. Both random. No problem, now it is with the virus,
