    Maybe someone has the true meaning of this. Guys I seeing hauling around NC with “for hire” tags, safer says involuntarily revocation, and not authorized. How does 1 get around this? Is this legal? I guess if it’s all exempt commodity which I’m pretty sure that isn’t the case. How would they even get a for hire tag without the proper insurance and licensing?

    If they are Intrastate only they don’t need federal authority, I wouldn’t think even if they are “For Hire”.

    That was my thoughts , how do they get freight then though? Can a direct shipper load a guy with no operating authority to stay intrastate

    Shipper asks: can you haul it cheaper.
    Trucker says: yep
    Shipper says: you're hired.

    Not shippers problem if truck isn't legal.
    Yes shippers load might get held up if the truck gets stopped and isn't legal.
    Still not a liability for the shipper.
    It will cost the truck owner to get it to receiver. Just my opinion.
