Just got some real sucky news, had a mini-stroke about a month ago. had surgery and got my carotid artery cleaned out.Just had my physical done and got informed that i can't drive for a year now. Luckily I just paid the truck off but i am going to need to look for a non dot job. Honestly I don't even know where to start, I guess start with getting rid of the truck. As far as job prospects there seem to be plenty of jobs here in central IL but I can see finding something that pays worth a darn and has insurance benefits is going to be tough. Well just wanted to get that off my chest, thanks for listening. T Nevin

Did you tell him or did he find it on some medical database?

Dang, man. Super sorry to hear that... for sure; yet glad to hear that YOU are OKAY now.. Alive matters too, ya know?!?

Your area is really good for 'related' trucking jobs, jsyk. Your CDL (even if non renewable or w/ a 3 month card) is invaluable to many places. For instance, MY company (well, I don't 'own' it, but... you get it..) would be more prone to hiring somebody WITH your background, in a heartbeat. We are based in Lemont.

Wish you well; pm for further info, if you think you'd like any.

When we had drivers who failed med test, they just ended up as a spotter. It’s a good way to keep hour skills sharp without a good license.

Otherwise share info on truck, I need another one.

I had to tell him, I was there because i company made me get a renewal after surgery and he looked up my discharge info and it stated I had a mini stroke. The guide lines that DOT Physicians use states that you must be off for a year before I can get another DOT certification.

Hey, at least there is the possibility that you can drive again. I know someone that had something similar happen about 10 or 12 yrs ago. He even lost a fair bit of use in one of his arms. He still drives a truck today and even rides motorcycles.

Keep your head up and just get by this next year. Get healthy and chompin at the bit to return to driving.

    good luck
