Unfortunately, most steel mills require long sleeves.

The best way to to keep from overheating is to be more efficient so you don't have to spend so much time insidethe loading bay. It will take some time, but you should figureit out through trial and error.

If they will let you, try to have all of your securement laid
out on the trailer deck before heading to the loading bay.
Set up the cradle(s) where you want them, then place half
of your chains and binders in front of the coil rack(s) and
the other half in the rear. You can save a lot of time with a
    proper setup.

    Now for the protip.
Get a couple of light or neutral colored hand towels.
Before arriving at the shipper or receiver, go to a truck stop
and get a gallon of cold water from the cooler. the gallon size
will stay cold longer. Once at the shipper before starting your
work, soak a towel in cold water, lay the towel on your head,
and put your hard hat over it. It will help keep your body
temperature lower as well as absorb most of that pesky sweat
that tends to drip into your eyes causing them to sting.

I carry a bunch of 4 footers and 6footers. Then keep about 4 8 footers.

For incase you pickup a machine and need it. Or if your setting two coils beside eachother. But that is normally finished goods packages were the are not huge.

Dont think anyone mentioned it. But try to never have a twist in your chain. It will stay tighter, longer. Always do a chain check in first 50 miles.

How do you make this lumber? How much of a bevel and how deep?

jamespmack, D.Tibbitt and farmerjohn64 Thank this.

Typical is a 45 degree cut. Take a hardwood 4X4 and on one corner, cut the bevel along that edge.

Here is an example. 4x4x8' Beveled Timber

I use way more coil racks then required just to save on my lumber no matter the weight.

Suicide 3 minimum, shot gun 3 minimum. Never let your racks be outside of the contact area.
