A $20 sensor cost me a $500 weekend service call, but it saved me a $1200+ repair in the near future. I was describing the problem and it just happened that the mechanic on call was the service manager. He looked in the system and there was a recall on the injection pump and luckily my unit wasn’t put into service until 7/24/17.

I am an old little lady.... For over 11 yrs I drove the big truck all over this beautiful country, parked overnight at secluded places, abandoned areas, back of buildings, streets with little or no traffic, shoulders of roads... never felt any fear of nothing... and never had the truck broken into, never had load stolen, never suffered any aggression or vandalism... other than one time having the hub oil seal removed... :angry2:
Folks would look at me, look at my size and ask... "But don't you feel afraid? Being out there all by yourself...?" :biggrin_2554: And I would laughingly tell them... "No... not at all... :biggrin_25512: it's all fun..." :yes2557:
No matter where I parked at night, it could be anywhere, after I closed the curtains I always felt "at home"... did my cooking, my things... slept like a baby... the cab was my shell... my cave... I felt safe and secure...
But nowadays... with all the crap that is going on out there... the lawlessness, the vandalism, the violence and crime... and what is worse, the war against the police, the dismantle of police... I am afraid things will never be the same... Actually things have been changing QUITE a lot... And when I go back in the big truck, if I ever go back in the big truck, I will not feel safe and secure any more... My good "old" days of OTR trucking are memories now... and that really saddens me... *sigh* :biggrin_2557:

A basic self defense class would be a good idea, then you can decide if you want learn to use a weapon.
The best tool you have is your instincts. If something doesn’t feel right, then look for a way of escape.

Ya know, I shared this with the wife this a.m., ma'am... and she's actually 'afraid' anymore to even GET back behind the wheel, her own self. (She drove asphalt with me for a few years, about 6 years back.) My son and I are keeping her grounded, working from home at the moment.

What a shame of a world... (or at least the USA, anymore!) :( Sad state(s) of affairs. Agree.

I wouldn't worry much if I were driving local and going home every night... my main concern is parking overnight... depending on time and locations I used to avoid truck stops, specially big chain truck stops... sometimes a quiet street or outside the shipper / receiver's gate was much better than a truck stop... Now... I don't know....
