You did it smart. Bought a truck built with gravel specs. Converted road tractors make crappy dump trucks.
MacDawg Thanks this. -

Often thought about a old mixer and refitting it as a water truck.
Up here in the mountains I'd want a big block motor for dump work.
Looks good and clean. Dump body seems to fit the chassis right. Did you slide the axles up on the frame any or did it all just fit? -

SL3406 Thanks this.

i guess this totally depends on where u live. down here near houston u can drop a bed with pto setup and piston for waaay less than 20k
...and thats new.
i recently shortened my truck (few years ago). now, i went super small since the pit i work at only loads 12 yards of dirt and thats mainly what i haul 80 percent of the time. i got a 12 yard box (13 feet) with piston and tailgate for 3 grand. of course i had to shorten my frame but thats a different story and not on topic here...also went with different suspension. paid the shop 1500 for labor and gave him my old beat up suspension and box. -
Yeah, I agree different areas have different pricing. Around my area I had bids from 22k to 40k for the box, pto, and ram installed. The body I got wasn't the cheapest and wasn't the top dollar. The cheapest was 10 ga steel and for a little more I got a ar450 steel body,b with a high lift and coal chute, powder coated and installed with everything out the door so for what I do, which a little of everything, I don't think I made a wrong move

i wouldnt think twice about making another one either
