Considering that there are only about 20 left in active service (not counting training group trailers), statistically it's hard to take out the 9 series trailers.

"Hey Roger, glad I caught you before you went home. We had a guy drop a trailer a little low, can you swing by and see what you can do?"

I have had a few in less than a year I have been there. I guess my luck sucks that bad. lol

Acually I looked at my logs and January was the last one I had. The others were Nov and Dec last year. Although I did pass up an empty at Home Depot in Luckey, OH just a couple of weeks ago.

The last one was TA959472...It was fixed up underneath, brakes, tires, rims, even had a tire inflation system installed. I remeber the weird stuff, I know.

The inflation system surprises me, I didn't think we started testing them until the ta97**** series.

The goal was to have all of the TA9***** trailers out of service by Jan 1 2018. The problem was a loaded trailer would hit an OC and need tires, brakes, etc and we would drop $1-3,000 into it, so the "sell by" date got pushed. Or the trailer just hasn't gotten into an OC empty to be taken OOS. Stu hates that they're still around as they weigh about 1,000 pounds more, which impacts fuel economy and results in overweight loads.

The non-sequitor is that even though they are old, they tend to be in good shape as they have had extensive maintenance done while "new" trailers are POS. I'm dealing with one ta17 trailer that had it's tandem puller replaced. The problem is they replaced it with one that is too long which is negating the counter balance of the spring, which required more force to pull the handle, which has bent the central rod. It's in a dedicated pool and we need it empty to get it repaired, but jackwad imbeciles keep putting it on the ready line, so it keeps getting reloaded. I think I finally have it isolated at a customer and will be able to bring it to a shop early next week. If I see it in the yard again, stuff is going to get real - that whole puller handle is going to go AWOL.

They stopped letting owner ops on for a little while, but would let you lease a truck thru SFI. But now they're letting O/O on again. I know this because I broke down on the way to orientation, to the last orientation they were letting independent trucks on, then was hounding the recruiter and got in for the first orientation they were allowing outside trucks again.

Also, is it just me or do these ratcheting landing gear handles effing suck? Seems every #### one is rusted stuck or the bolt is loose and bent and you can't get it to stay up when turning...

I bet Schneider wishes they hadn't sold all the excess trucks they had left over after the great truck buying frenzy when ELDs became the law of the land.
