Have you ever had a reefer shut off while you were sleeping?

Yep, I always put the unit in continuous run while I slept. The second it quit I woke up wondering why it was suddenly so quiet.

Only if there is a problem that requires me to do work. Usually it's a false alarm.

I had a good conversation with a reefer driver a couple months back. He told me every once in awhile he catches a driver trying to turn off his reefer because they dont wanna hear it. I cant believe somebody would do that. U would think they would make some kind of lock out controls or need a password or something to be able to activate the buttons .

Shaffer trailers have satellite uplinks. If a loaded trailer loses connection, or is turned off, or the programming is changed, the driver will be called. Maybe.

I simply cannot sleep well with the unit running, I will wake up every 30 minutes or so and check it. Simply too much can go wrong for me to get a deep sleep,so I worry all night long.

Yeah, big time. That’s my greatest fear some moron turning it off. I always try to park by other reefers or alone if possible to reduce that possibility.

Get out of the reefer business if you can't stop worrying about it.

My company maintains the hell out of our trailers and units ..had 1 problem in almost 4 years with a defrost door not closing completely.
24/7 /365 service from carrier nationwide too.

  10. I've had so many Thermo King adventures that I think the name "Thermo King" should be changed to "drama queen." I am sitting here in a hotel right now, while the Thermo King gets fixed all weekend. It's one thing after another with that stupid Thermo King.

So here are some of my gripes about Thermo King...

How on earth do they dominate the market so effectively? What kind of anti-competitive practices are they engaging in? Why doesn't Thermo King have any kind of SERIOUS competition? Haven you even HEARD of Emerson Electric?

Why doesn't Thermo King have freaking ICE MACHINES at their facilities? So I could toss some ice in the back of my unit and that would help the temp while they fix it? It's like they don't give a #### whether my cargo spoils...well, why should they? They have no serious competition.

    And on a lighter note...

I saw an ancient, dark blue Thermo King a few weeks ago...an antique, and it was still going. But I still am not terribly fond of Thermo King.

Nope. I am too old school, came along when putt-putt blowers were being replaced by NWD -30 units hauling produce, not real reliable.Learned the hard way you cannot put 100 % trust in anything mechanical. I seldom pull a reefer anymore, but when I do, being responsible for the product on my trailer requires my attention. I have seen huge problems arise by these " drivers " setting a temperature and then forgetting to check it.
