Reminds me of the old transmission shop oil change special, they show you a normal pile of shavings, and declare you need a new trans.

On the inframe thing I’ve never believed there is any way to get everything cleaned out. Too many places for things to hide. What you don’t see won’t hurt you till you find it on the plug or bottom of the pan later. Than it’s a day or two of agonizing over what you did to cause it. I was asking myself did I get it too hot and break the rings? Those 250’s will pull 1200-1300 degree pyro’s easy. Did I lug it?
I’d cut the filters open and check for metal. That’s what I did to finally roll with it and not stress on pulling it apart. I found nothing but oil in the fiters.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Got the other mechanic here with me today, so we've been searching high and low with no luck. Turbo had a lot of play on the compressor side bearing definitely wore out, got a new one on the way. But not the source of the big chunks for sure.
Everything looks ok under valve cover. Removed as many of the panels from the front cover and the PS pump and spun it all around everything we can see looks okay.
Down below all looks good as well .. frustrating! Guessing that I'll pull the compressor next. Other mechanic sent me this picture I didn't know he had of a different view of the original big chunks.

One guy on here had a compressor bearing go out. He posted pictures of the damage. @jamespmack do you remember who? I think they posted it in 5 a long time ago.

Not off hand. It could be p/s, air comp, water pump, access drive hub, bull gear, adjustable tensioner gear, idle gear.
Remove each one and inspect it. Plus look straight down on housing for metal.
I would say a oil sample would help. But we are to late for that party.
Remove acc drive, check back lash with dial indicator, then pry it in and out looking for movementRideandrepair Thanks this.
