When did you become a safety nazi? Like @Chinatown said it's all minor stuff that most companies wouldn't give 2 ####s about. U-turns? Done safely nobody should care. 1-5 mph over? WTF? They write those? 2 hard brakings in 9 months is pretty good with how dumb 4-wheelers can be. A light out can happen while you're driving. And maybe OP thought the truck being in the shop would mean it's good to go. Maybe it was and the inspector was being a dick. None of the things said at the time of your post indicate some unusually unsafe driver that should never drive again.

You said it best. Speed ain't everything. Efficiency is. If a driver gas a 600 mile run, it takes a full day, whether you run at 62 or 72.

    stillwurkin and Chinatown Thank this.

Go on ahead and feel that way! It makes you PART of the overall problem! NOT a solution!

It sounds like you're putting the sins of the industry as a whole on this one driver. New drivers can make mistakes, but if we burn them all like the megas do then we'll just keep getting the new drivers that haven't made those mistakes yet and run out of good veteran drivers.

I feel like I’m in the twilight zone! I guess you do learn something new everyday. So you’re telling me any Uturn, even double U turns lanes that have specific side radius for semi trucks and you’re still fired? Or how about coming out of a shipper and you MUST U turn to get on interstate and every truck departing does one? Or a U-turn to position for backing in? Etc etc? Safe, Skilled U-turns are part of trucking, are they not?

Coffey, TokyoJoe, tommymonza and 4 others Thank this.

If caught, yes! These policies are caused by the historical problems these maneuvers have caused, it stinks but it is what it is.

Edited: I was ONLY speaking to inappropriate U-Turns. Not U-Turns that are required by circumstances. I remember many places I frequently went to that required doing a U-Turn!

Doesn't Swift fire drivers caught making U-turns, unless there's a sign authorizing it?
Well, if Knight does, then Swift does, since Knight manages Swift also.
