When I was at Crete, everyone with a 17 inch neck or larger was magically determined to need sleep apnea testing by Crete's company doctor, regardless of any other mitigating information. The doctor even admitted to me that a 17 inch + neck necessitated testing. It's a total scam.
I got 12 minutes of stage 3 sleep because the bed I took the testing in had bed bugs. So gross. It was like getting pricked with a needle randomly on your legs every minute or so. Based on those 12 minutes the teleconferenced doctor three states away determined I had "marginal" sleep apnea even though I don't snore and had never had sleep problems before.
The machine is $200-$400 and the overnight testing is $3,000-$4,500. If you pay for the testing and it contradicts what the company doctor says, don't expect them to use it. If you plan to stay with the company just buy the machine. Don't pay for your own retest. They won't care what your doctor will say. -
