In the hotshot freight world today, what is everyone using for:
    TMS
    ELD
    GPS
    Accounting

Just getting started and have read lots of thread and reviews of different systems, looking to see in one thread opinions from users of different systems, pros, cons, etc.

I am currently leaning toward KeepTruckn for ELD, Google Maps(?), and QBO Quick Books online (because I am very familiar with it for other businesses I've run)

What do you use and why?

TMS- Me and a tire gauge at least once a day. More than once a day if I suspect a leak. I upgraded my 10 ply 17 inch tires to 19.5 16 ply tires for extra security and more miles. My 17s crapped out just past 40k miles and my 19.5 have about 35k miles on them and still look 90%.

ELD-keeptruckin Was my first choice and i like it. Haven't tried anything else.

GPS- Atlas, CoPilot app and google maps. Copilot hasn't let me down very often, costs $100 a year and I run it on my tablet. If the tablet dies i can run it on my phone. I set the route on CoPilot using the truck dimensions, then check the atlas and google maps to make sure the route doesn't have anything that might be a problem for me.

Accounting- I use quickbooks and a friend who is a cpa when i need advice or have accounting questions.

I'll have to look into atlas and copilot, I'm unfamiliar.

For management of route, do those help you plan other loads along the way or not really?

For truck management, maintenance, expenses, receivables, you find qbo to be decent?

The trucker's Atlas is not an app, its a book of maps you can buy at truckstops, i bought mine at a staples. CoPilot is on the google store. I didn't like the dedicated gps like garmin and rand mcnally.
After plotting your route you can see your route and check the loadboards if there are other loads along the way. I have all my loads back and forth ready before I even leave the house.

For maintenance I just get an oil change, fuel filters, shake off the air filter from debris and inspect everything every 10k miles (+/- every month). Air filter every 20k. Transmission fluid and CV filter every 30-35k miles and transmission fluid+filter every 70k. I am gentle with my truck and haven't needed any repairs yet and everything still seems in great shape, 75k on the odo.

I use a CC/debit card for anything related to work. QB is connected to my business bank account and updates daily. I just file every expense in it's proper tab. Works for me so far. I had my accountant setup my QB account to have all the proper tabs for taxes. I don't really know what I am doing tax wise, still learning that aspect and relying heavily on my accountant to keep it right.
I am a car hauler and use super dispatch for all my BOLs. Print out a report once a month and keep it for income and expense reference.

I have only been running a year as of 2 weeks ago so I am sure I still have things to learn.

You are running tight ship IMO. Thank you for the information provided. This may or may not help you. My buddy gets a lot of things accomplished at the auctions ( off duty ) and has customers who allow night drops ( long-standing customers) most of his driving done at night. He runs little bigger trailer than yours with tractor as tow vehicle. He also stages vehicles at auction for returning trip.
