Once they’re out of wack, they wobble. Even tough balancing shows good. I’ve taken all the weights off completely, thinking I had a bad balance. Same result. It should ride like new, for a while. But running it out of alignment, eventually the wobble comes back. In my case, even before any visual wear is evident. I’ve been flipping the one tire, on the rim, at about 60k, buy’s some time. If I don’t, it gets the out of wack wobble. It will be nice to get an alignment once and for all. M&D has a video on camber, explaining it well. I’m guessing the Shops saying, that your axle needs to be bent. Hopefully mine doesn’t. But the Freightliner death wobble, is aggravating. I’ve had it on a few Trucks. Last one I owned, same problem, other side. Steers should last at least 100k. Money saved, pays for alignment. Sooner the better. I’ve been getting 130-150k from mine, even being out of alignment. Wobble is around 50-60 mph. I’m interested to see how long a set will last, with an alignment. Check the M&D video, on Utube, I believe.

The alignment shop did say that they would need the axle bent to fully align the camber.

So I am ignoring it, as it is not terribly out of alignment. -0.8 degrees I think it was.

As for the tire, the shop I am at now says the passenger tire was sixteen ounces out, not six. It was also shaped like an egg. No matter how well balanced it was on a machine, it would wobble. Period.

So, apparently I made the right choice today. Even if paying for it will make me unhappy.

Go to an MD Alignment shop. And before you do that read through the information on their website. An axle should never have to be bent.

It might just be fine now. Mine has a pull to the right, probably from drives being off. But with new steers, it goes straight, till it hits about 60-70k. Time will tell, chances are, it will be fine. Hopefully your Truck will be turnkey, till you trade it. Running an old Truck, isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I have a very long list of time consuming things to do. Most, I have to do myself, because the shop charges would be enormous. Honestly, I’m very tired of doing repairs. Long gone is the sense of accomplishment. Now it’s just a pita.

Well. Got ready to leave the shop, and decided to check drive tire pressures.

One of the valve stems broke off.

On the plus side, my new steers are rated for over 14k lbs, so I will never need to worry about being overweight in most states now. By the time I get to 14k on my steers with the 5th wheel all the way forward, I will be 4000 lbs over on my drives.

If your front axle is only rated at 12K then 12K is all you got. Doesn't matter if the tires are rated higher. The lower number of the two is what it is.
