    Hello,
I'm from Chicago Illinois. I just renewed my medical card. I always bring the Illinois Secretary of State a copy of the renewed medical card( NI) in person. Many facilities are closed due to covid 19. The doctor told me i have 10 days from the date of the renewal exam to bring it to the SOS. Are they any extensions due to the pandemic? Can the medical card be faxed or emailed to the main SOS facility in Illinois, in Springfield? And what happens if i don't give the SOS a copy on time? I have my cdl 2 years already, but never used. I will use it now starting a new career. Thanks for your response. Be safe and healthy all.

Don't know about the fax or email, but the West Chicago location is open, I was just there this morning to renew.Other locations are also open but West Chicago deals only with CDL related things.

Also, ask your employer if they can do it for you. Mine is based in Indiana but they did it electronically somehow, all I had to do was take a pic with my phone and send it one of the people in our office. Yours may be able to do the same.

Thanks for your response. I heard the West Chicago is open. I went to Elk Grove location, is closer to me. Guess what? Online shows open today until 2pm. I went there and the facility is closed until August 22,lol. Same with West Chicago. Online shows open until 2pm,i called before i went, and us closed. I don't know what time you went. I guess Monday i call and ask. As for my employer, I don't have one. I never used my cdl before. I closed my business due to covid 19. I'm looking for a job in trucking now,but I don't have experience. At truck school, just teach you a to pass the test. I really don't know how to operate a truck

you cannot scan it and email it?

most states you go to the DMV, i never heard of the S. of State taking them.

Thats my question. I always went in person, but now for the pandemic I wanted to know if it can be emailed or faxed. If you have done this way, it means yes. But for the selection (NI) do they give you an option?

Elk Grove is currently closed due to COVID and South Holland is closed until further notice ever since things got out of hand and people tried to tear it up. Not sure when that one will open again.

West Chicago hours listed the door showed it would be open until 2pm today, but honestly, you need to get there before. With Elk Grove and South Holland both off line they are getting hammered. I showed up at 6:05 this morning and was 4th in line. Doors opened at 7:30 and I was out by 7:45, but when the doors opened at 7:30 there was probably 100 people in line, they were going to be waiting a lot longer then I did.

Get there early, get a good spot, hang out when it's cool instead of baking in the sun.

in my state, i could either go in person (to the DMV) or have the doctors office fax it over.

personally, i always took my DOT to the DMV, that way, i KNOW they got it.
